Obama Administration Announces Plans for Case-by-Case Deportation Reviews
The Obama administration has announced plans to conduct case-by-case reviews of all immigrants facing deportation. The move is expected to ease the way for undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children and have already spent years in the country to stay and work legally. U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano revealed the new policy in a letter to Senators Dick Durbin and Richard Lugar. In April, the senators sent a letter to Napolitano asking her to stop deportations of immigrant students who could earn legal status under the proposed DREAM Act. The new policy was announced just days after a group of Latino groups held a nationwide day of protest against the administration’s deportation policy. The Obama administration has overseen a record number of deportations in each of the past three years. Under the new policy, administration officials have acknowledged the actual number of immigrants deported is not expected to decrease.
The National Immigration Law Center praised the new policy, but expressed concern over what will happen to immigrants already being detained for low-level offenses and minor traffic violations as a result of the Secure Communities program. Meanwhile, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, slammed the new policy as a form of "backdoor amnesty."

MUN position paper
Delegate: Julio C. Alvarez
Committee: ECOSOC
Country: Mexico
Topic: International Cooperation in Prosecuting International Crimes
International cooperation in prosecuting international crimes is when countries work together to prevent international crimes that endanger the countries’ security. Examples of international crimes that are affecting the world include terrorism, trafficking of drugs, people, organs and weapons, corruption, theft, counterfeiting, and cybercrimes such as hacking. These crimes in the world inflict damage to civilian life and international security and peace by harming the well-being and security of people, the economy, authorities, and also to other countries that are either bordering or from a long distance. The goal for this topic is to think about some solutions how to end these international crimes and corruption that is degrading the world.
What Mexico has done to fight the cartels is cooperating with the U.S. , sending troops, law enforcement, and technology. One domestic solution is that Mexico will keep sending its own troops to fight the drug cartels and to enforce border security. Mexico will be willing to work with other countries to help fight the drug cartels and stop any further corruption in the world. Another solution is that Mexico should replace the corrupted officers with a more secure and efficient force to promote security in the country and also in the border to prevent any further smuggling into other countries. Mexico will also help other countries fight any cartels that are hiding or smuggling drugs and arms in the countries.
MUN final
I think that the most important thing I learned in MUN is attempting to solve global problems. There are many different kinds of problems in the world such as starvation, genocide, terrorism, international crimes, natural disasters, dehydration, and many negative effects impacting the world. By getting on topic and focusing on a certain issue or problem during a stimulation, we are learning more on how to solve that international problem and our solutions' strengths and weaknesses and also we are learning about the moral value of cooperation with other countries. We are also learning more about the current issues from other countries and also about the countries themselves and their own status compared to other countries. MUN can be appied to everyday life because this shows cooperation with other countries and to solve international problems. This also applies to the knowledge for international issues and on how to solve them and their consequences.
health related fitness
Health related fitness is the measure of the physical, general well-being for a person's body. It is the target of exercise to improve in any of the components of health related fitness. Different activities and sports require some components of health related fitness to a higher level while some only a low level, and this is why some athletes struggle to acheive these high levels of some components of health related fitness to improve and to achieve.
There are about 5 types of components of health related fitness: cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, muscular endurance, and body composition. Cardiovascular endurance (a.k.a. aerobic fitness) measures the ability to exercise that demands the circulatory and respiratory system over a long period of time. Muscular strength measures how much force a person can produce with their muscles. Muscular endurance should not be confused with strength as endurance measures the ability of muscles to repeatedly apply force over a long period of time. Flexibility measures the amount of joint movement, and body composition measures how much fat a person has.
The activity that I will be showing is push-ups. Push-ups do relate to improving health related fitness because it is one of the simplest ways to improve muscular strength and endurance. Push-ups target the biceps and triceps muscles in the arms when performing this exercise. If a person want to build muscle, he should do push-ups as many as he can without feeling any pain or a feeling of tiredness, but it is recommended to start with a small number of push-ups to avoid injury. If a person starts to fell a bit of pain when doing push-ups, he should stop and take a rest, then when the perosn fells alright he can continue with the exercise.
One of the health related fitness activities that I am planning for the summer is walking or running and this focuses on cardiovascular endurance. Another plan is stretching and practicing some martial arts move and these may involve in flexibility. I would also like to work out a bit and to increase my muscular strength and endurance for the summer by either doing push-ups, or weight lifting.

persistence essay
I believe in persistence, because it is one of the most important values in life. In order to achieve a goal, a person who wants to work for it and accomplish it must have persistence because life is not always easy and there might be obstacles that might make achieving success a tough job. I believe that in order to accomplish a dream into reality, you must not let anything opposing or negative get in your way and defeat
you, be strong-minded and determined, and keep on the path to success.
One of my major goals in my life is accomplishing for my career. I have blessed with knowledge and strengths of mathematics and science so I have a good advantage for reaching my goal. Like many to all people, there are some obstacles in my path to success, but I keep at my own accomplishments without a real problem. However, these obstacles have made my path harder to reach, but I am still standing.
For example, last year I had to take a full year of AP Chemistry class. It was really hard and it required a lot of thinking, so it was very difficult to catch up with this class. I thought I wasn't going to make it but I tried my best at the class and worked the hardest. Then at the end of the year, the unthinkable has ocurred. I have passed the class by my extra credit and then I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore about going to summer school. So, I enjoyed my summer with no worries or hassles, and relaxed along the way.
Another example was in 7th grade when I moved here from a small town in the Rio Grande valley. I took algebra in the small town, but I couldn't finish my class because of my moving, so I had to take a regular math class, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was that when we were taking the standarized tests, I have passed everything except the Stanford reading portion. I have no idea of the Stanford test because I never took it in the Rio Grande Valley. I didn't have enough time to study, so I had to go to summer school. I did everything like a pro like I am and successfully got promoted to the 8th grade.
So, There are also some obstalces that only seem to be created by my own thoughts. For example, sometimes when we do a test or project, negative thoughts rise in my mind but I easily ignore them. Sometimes my own family is the obstacle, because my brother and sister make a lot of noise and disorder and I can't concentrate, but I do not succumb by that. Life is not always easy because there are some difficult issues going on in the world, but I keep staying strong and I have to be thankful for the life I have to dwell on for an easy and successful path for a better life, while there are some people who are suffering more.
